The flowers along South Africa’s west coast are blooming once again. And 2012 seems to be producing wonderful shows after good winter rains. These images were taken in Postberg Nature Reserve in West Coast National Park which lies about 100 kilometres north of Cape Town. The shallow lagoon waters draw in large numbers of water birds including flamingos and pelicans but at this time of year photographers are drawn in large numbers by the annual flowers which cover much of the landscape. Postberg is in fact only the start of the flowers — the best shows are found further north of Cape Town towards Kamieskroon and Springbok.
