David Rogers Photographic is based in Cape Town. It has experienced photographic guides who know Africa —  and Cape Town — intimately. We can meet you at your hotel, join your day trips, and help you to make the most of the beautiful Cape. We promise plenty of fun, great photographic opportunities and skills you can take wherever you go.
Learn about white balance, ISO, priority modes, exposure modes, exposure compensation, histograms, the basics of composition and more. Discover the tricks to getting sharp images on game drives, how to anticipate animal behaviour and make the most of lighting conditions.
We will meet you at your hotel or join you on your scheduled itinerary around the Cape.

Photograph Cape Town’s People

Join David on a visit to the interesting Malay Quarter and to photograph the flower sellers at Greenmarket Square. We can also take a trip to Camp’s Bay and photograph the 12 Apostles before heading down to Kirstenbosch and the Constantia Valley, which is home to the Cape’s oldest wine farms. We end our journey at Kalk Bay which is famous for its fishing boats and wonderful seafood restaurants.

Photograph Cape Town’s Wildlife

Join David on a one-day trip to capture the best of the Cape Peninsula. We will set off from your hotel at 09h00 and then drive directly to Simonstown where we will photograph Cape Fur Seals and Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach. We will stay away from the tourist areas and try to get up close and personal with these wonderful creatures on the beach. Then we will head off to Cape Point for more photography of landscapes and wildlife in this iconic destinations. Bontebok, Ostriches and other birds are usually on the photographic menu here. After lunch we will make our way back slowly towards Noordhoek and Chapman’s Peak to Camps Bay with is fantastic views of the 12 Apostles.

Photograph the Winelands

On the doorstep of Cape Town are some of the most wonderful winelands areas to visit and photograph. Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are the three most visited areas and for good reason. These are the original wineland areas with fascinating historicies and you will not find a finer combination of wines, restaurants, architecture and general mountain scenery. The Hemel and Aarde Valley, Tulbagh, the West Coast and Cedarberg Wineries all have their own distinctive character and great wines. Read more about photographing the winelands

Photograph our Landscapes and Seascapes

Shipwrecks, rocky shores, cliffs, lighthouses and dramatic seas offer exceptional photographic opportunities. Whether you have one day or two join us on a trip to capture the very best that the Cape has to offer. Please bear in mind that if you want to take exceptional landscapes and seascapes — it means very early wake ups in summer to catch the sun or staying out until sunset. What it costs?

As step on guides we charge from R1500 ($130) per person per day (minimum 2 people) excluding any additional entrances and expenses. We can use your tour vehicle or make arrangements. Either David Rogers or Jon-Erik Munro will be your guide depending upon availability.
